-----------September 1, 2006CD Review: Poet Voices (Steppin' Stones)![]() A Nutshell Review RATING: 4 Stars Label: Sonlite Records Producers: Phil Cross and Cliff Duren Song Titles: "Steppin' Stones," "The Great I Am Still Is," "For All The Days That End In Why," "God Is Good," "He's Already In Your Tomorrow," "Glory In The Story," "You Cheer Me On," "Pilgrims And Strangers," "Heaven's Hero," and "We Say Yes" Steppin' Stones is the latest from Poet Voices. Every song on the project was written or co-written by Phil Cross with the exception of Mark Lanier's "For All The Days That End In Why." (Lanier's song is entirely different from Jeff & Sheri Easter's song with a nearly identical title, "All The Days That End In Why.") "The Great I Am Still Is" is a compelling anthem that I expect will soon be turned into an arrangement for church choir if it isn't already available in that format. A few tracks on Steppin' Stones have been recorded previously, including "God Is Good," "Glory In The Story," and "Heaven's Hero." "Heaven's Hero" has Cross' original bridge rather than the quote from "Champion Of Love" that producer Lari Goss added to the Greater Vision version. Over the years, fans have come to expect good production quality, confident vocals, a few anthems, and strong songwriting from Poets Voices. Steppin' Stones meets these expectations.
