More DRM Bites The Dust

Following the lead of Apple, Microsoft has announced they will also offer DRM-free music from EMI at their online store. The full story is HERE.

"Consumers have made it clear that unprotected music is something they want," Asher said. "We plan on offering it to them as soon as our label partners are comfortable with it."

By the way, I have inquired as to whether or not EMI's deal with Apple will affect Gaither label products such as the Homecoming series and music by artists Ernie Haase & Signature Sound, the Isaacs and the Gaither Vocal Band. Gaither's label isn't owned by EMI, but EMI is the distributor. If so, it could mean some already popular Southern Gospel artists will see an increase in online sales. Gaither's publicist said they'd be letting me know; when they do, I'll let you know.
