I paid for the NQC webcast, and I was very pleased. I need to preface my comment with the fact that I was in revival at church all six nights, so I only got to see the end of some nights. However, I really never had a problem that I could identify as being on NQC's end. I honestly think that a lot of the problems came from users' ends; some people don't know a lot about computers, video & sound cards, internet speeds & settings, etc. Since I was getting sound and video at the same time a lot of others say they weren't, I can only assume that they were the problem, not NQC. I watched all the afternoon showcases & enjoyed them very much!! The only thing that I would have a complaint about is the mix of the feed. I saw somewhere that someone said they should have one person whose only responsibility is mixing the feeds for the various radio & webcasts. I heartily agree! But, as a whole, I really enjoyed the webcast & will definitely purchase it again. Sorry for the long comment. =)

I paid for the live feed, and for the most part, it was good. Wednesday night presented a lot of problems (during which i turned over to solid gospel...the commercials came at AWFUL times), but the remainder of the time I tuned it in was well done. My local internet service went totally dead on Friday and I missed the Friday night concert. I was so mad I couldn't see straight , but that didn't reflect on NQC.

After being so impressed with Lowry & Lordsong's set in 2007, I must confess I was disappointed this year. Maybe it's because I saw them in concert earlier this year, but it seemed like Mark just rambled more than usual. He alomost looked disinterested. Last year, I remember that he looked more excited or at least engaged. Lordsong/Sisters was fantastic, but I, too, was disappointed with his hymn medley singalong finale.

Even so, ML & LS sucked all of whatever energy was in the room out with them when they left. In the room, the Kingsmen sounded fine - nothing spectacular, but not too bad either. They had their shaky moments, but nothing that caused me to mention it to my wife. I was surprised to hear Harold Reid pop a super-high note on "Beautiful Home".

Triumphant put in a solid set. I really like "He Is" and the rest of the crowd seemed to agree. On "Old White Flag", Stice feigned his disgust as usual, but not over-the-top like I've seen him do before. I would say close to half the crowd was waving white handkerchiefs on the choruses. I was actually somewhat surprised at how many were in the air. Stice actually stood up and waved one while wearing an "I give up, you folks like it" expression. I personally wish they would have included "I Know I'm Going Home" during their set.

Gold City turned in a good, solid set, but I must disagree with your assessment of Steve Ladd being in good voice on "Preach The Word". He seemed to be visibly struggling with the high notes and even 'took the low road' near the end. That is one of my wife's favorite songs and she noticed it right away.

The Hoppers set was fine, but I've seen it before - actually every time they've been on stage for the last two or three years. I believe they may be getting bored because they haven't put out a new project in two years.

The Grand Finale was "Shoutin' Time" with Triumphant, Gold City, Michael Booth, and Gary Casto (who was there to hear the Hoppers sing his song "Grace Will Always Be Greater Than Sin"). It was what it was.

The magic wasn't there for Lowry this year like it was last year. He did more singing and less comedy this time, and a lot of the comedy was stuff we've already heard from him....the story about his houseboat during a tornado is on one of his live DVDs. C'mon man, get some new material.

DBM, that was a great comment about Connie Hopper relenting the 2nd verse on "That's Him". I've thought the very same thing when I've heard them sing it in the past. Connie owns the song right out of the gate and should retain it until the finish.

Well I did not pay for the feed, so I guess you get what you pay for, huh? It will seem entirely odd to watch NFL football tomorrow and actually get to see the same, without commercials stomping all over the best parts of the game! I've gotten so used to having Signature Sound, Mark Lowry etc walked over by emcees and commercials this week. I realize they don't have "tv time outs" at NQC, but they do have slight breaks between the groups. They could sure do a LOT better in that regard!

As for the overall sound, some was good, some was not. Once again, you get what you paid for, and I paid nothing, so ...

As for general performances, I thought most of what I heard tonite was pretty solid, except for ...

As a die-hard Kingsmen fan, it pains me to say this, but they sounded like a train-wreck! "Meet me at the table" and "Beautiful Home" sounded like local/regional groups at best, especially compared to the *real* Kingsmen that made the songs great. "Shakey" is being incredibly kind to the end of "When God Ran". (Love the song ... just loved it a lot more when it was done by Phillips, Craig & Dean.)

And what the heck was that stench that Mark Lowry left on the stage??? An audience sing-along??? It sounded like the uber-cheesiest, Lawrence Welk schlock I've ever heard! I was visualizing all the women in marching band outfits prancing about the stage with Mr. Welk, baton in hand, conducting the orchestra. Maybe it was going over with the testosterone-free oldtimers at NQC, but this is the reason why I'm afraid to invite any friends to a sg event. They'd laugh me out of the room at the cheesiness!

Anyways, thanks to NQC and solidgospel.com for the free feeds. Hope they do it again next year.

Seriously, this genre has a severe identity crisis!
