Joel Hemphill Says Jesus Wasn’t God In The Flesh

Click HERE to see where a charge has been made regarding Southern Gospel legend Joel Hemphill’s unorthodox views on the deity of Jesus Christ. Click HERE to read Hemphill’s original quote in full context. It appears the charge is true. He has taken the position that Jesus wasn’t the incarnation of God and attempted to defend that position with certain scriptures that show Jesus to have been less than omnipotent (to Hemphill’s way of thinking).

I haven’t figured out exactly how Hemphill manages to ignore the first chapter of the gospel of John…specifically that part that reads, “The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.” (Clearly, the Word means Jesus in that chapter.) Then you have that earlier part of the chapter that reads, “and the Word was God.” It’s strange that Hemphill quotes the book of John extensively to support his theory, but doesn’t address the very first chapter of the book.

Without reading the entire book I have already found several erroneous interpretations to conclude that this man has blown his thological gasket. Everyone knows John 1:14 alone explains who Jesus was.

Greetings to you all in the name of Jesus Christ,

Jesus Christ is the PROMISED SEED, The REDEEMER, The Messiah
The one God has promised since Genesis to be the second Adam..
Joels books is fantastic, thorough and well done.
The Trinity is a lie, promoted through Constantine.
The Trinity is NOT in the bible..
And The Gospel of John does not say Jesus is God.
You are mistaken, you must read the bible honestly.
Who does Jesus say is his GOD?
Whose will did Jesus say he came to fulfill?
Who cried out “NOT MY Will be done”
Who went out each mornning to pray?
Who does Jesus declare is His FATHER?
Who raised Jesus from the dead according to Romans 10:9 10???
Whose right hand is Jesus sitting upon?
Who does Jesus call his FATHER and GOD throughout the book of Rev?
Some take ONE scripture and use it to make a doctrine of, but the whole of the bible is so clear.
GOD so loved the WORLD that he SENT HIS onlly begotten SON into the world…
Again “This is mY beloved Son in whom I am well pleased…
You all err NOT knowing the scriptures well..
There are MANY churches who are seeing the great blessing of TRUTH in these last days…

Lots love Love and truth be multiplied…

John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:1 clearly states that the Word (logos) WAS God. If there’s any confusion, verse 14 makes it crystal clear that the Word and Jesus are the same.

Father and Son are terms that represent a physical human relationship. The concept of father and son are used in the Bible to describe different representations of the same God.

“The concept of father and son are used in the Bible to describe different representations of the same God.”

Where do you get this logic???

It isnt supported in scripture….

Do you have a son, is he YOU???
Faulty logic, “TRINITY” isnt in the bible my friend…
Nowwhere, may it please GOD to open your eyes to the truth that Constantine promoted powerfully….
Great love in Christ Jesus Our Lord,

Timothy 2

1First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men,
2 for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.

3This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,

4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

5For there is ONE God, AND ONE mediator between God and men, the MAN Christ Jesus,

6who gave himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.

7For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle I am telling the truth, I am not lying) as a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

8Therefore want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension.
