NQC 2008: Monday Via Solid Gospel, Part 3

Reactions to Monday evening’s NQC performances continue…to listen for yourself, click HERE.

After an extended recorded Compassion International commercial and a live appeal for the organization by Connie and Claude Hopper, we return to the main stage at NQC for a set by the Inspirations.

9:20 PM – The Inspirations begin with “Amazing Grace.” Fans are already applauding by the end of verse one. Archie Watkins sounds like a rooster, but Mike Holcomb’s brassy bass singing sounds excellent tonight. I’ve heard that Matt Dibler has left the group, so I wonder who’s singing in his place tonight.

9:25 PM – They’re singing “I Have Not Forgotten” already. The past few years, they’ve stretched this song out with several encores, but they only do one tonight.

9:32 PM – Holcomb steps up for “If You Only Knew.” The Inspirations are featuring a lot of slow songs on this set, but I’ll bet they finish off with something energetic. Solid Gospel cuts to a commercial break…Soul’d Out, Reggie Saddler Family, and the Perrys are coming up. I’ll stick here through the Perrys and then call it a night, since I have to hit the road early tomorrow.

I was also watching the video feed last night. Claude and Connie were on the mainstage making their live Compassion Intl appeal.

I was very confused by the speech in between “I Have Not Forgotten” and “If You Only Knew”.
Martin was speaking about patriotism, the anniversary of September 11th, 2001, American soldiers, and praying for troops on the battlefield. I was almost certain thet they were about to sing their song that’s called “Weapon of Prayer”. I’ve been hearing recentley on the radio, so I assumed it was a new single. But they went straight into “If You Only Knew”.
