NQC 2008: Monday Via Solid Gospel, Part 4
Reactions to Monday evening’s NQC performances continue…to listen for yourself, click HERE.
9:41 PM – Soul’d Out is on the main stage when we return singing an upbeat song about Christ’s return.
9:42 PM – “He Is My Lamb” is next. This dramatic anthem features a unison chorus and verses that are over sung too early. Tenor Dusty Barrett’s harmony vocals on very solid on this song, though. It’s good to hear him continuing to sing after Crystal River. A Barrett feature in this slot might have been a better option.
9:47 PM – “Ain’t Nobody But Jesus” sounds like a “Long As I Got King Jesus” clone. I like this SG-meets-BG type of stuff. I’ll have to see about getting their new CD…titled Ain’t Nobody…tomorrow. It sounds like Soul’d Out had a ten minute segment, and made pretty good use of it.
9:55 PM – Reggie Saddler begins with a racial joke: “Myrtle Beach, that’s where I got my tan.” Then, he sings a series of pop song snippets including “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Wild Thing,” “The Great Pretender,” and “Lonesome Me.” Solid Gospel cuts away from main stage coverage before Saddler gets to any Gospel. Solid Gospel DJ Greg Goodman mentions that the remaining groups for the evening include the Perrys, Southern Sound, Roy Webb, the Torchmen, and Triumphant Quartet. The evening’s finale will feature the Perrys joining Triumphant on stage.
