Signature Sound w/Band

Ernie Haase just posted on the Signature Sound blog that they’ve been experimenting with a live band on their solo dates. I would assume if anyone could afford it these days, they could. It also puts them on an interesting competition level with Gold City, who recently made the official announcement about their band joining them on select dates. Whether EHSS chooses to go with a permanent band or to do what GC does and only use one on select dates has yet to be seen (so far, only one date has been confirmed with a live band, so it may not even be in the plan at this point), but right now, I view GC and EHSS as the top two male quartets in the industry right now. Putting a band in the mix for both groups can only add to the fun!!!

I like Gold City, but I don’t think EH&SS sit around and wonder what GC is doing to be innovative or relevant in Southern Gospel. When GC is packing out venues for solo dates like EH&SS then they can be considered competition.

There really shouldn’t be ANY competition in Gospel Music if your doing it for the right reason. But if your going to go by crowd size than SS does draw more people right now, but Gold City did the same in their “hayday” which wasn’t that long ago really. They also did it without the “HELP” with Gaither and being on TV. EH & SS prob. do look at what other groups like Gold City do but not that they want to copy them, why else would they do it after Gold City announced they were planning it. I doubt Gold City really cares alot about what EH & SS are doing since they really dont have the same crowd. Gold City is more of a church ministry and EH & SS is more of a showplace or theater type Branson. Next we’ll hear that EH & SS are actually doing alter calls at their concerts cause Gold City does it every night… Are they copying? I would really hope not.
