We gotta get these guys in a studio….

I’ll admit, I had my doubts about whether or not Mike English would be able to carry some of Guy’s solos….well, not necessarily doubts, more like curiousities. I’ve seen the GVB perform live, and heard the Reunion DVD’s, but this clip finally has me 100% sold on this group. GET THESE GUYS IN A STUDIO!!!!

I never for once had any doubt at all that Michael would not be able to carry the solos. I knew he could because
When God has his had on something, it’s gonna be the best, and when God restore’s someone, he restore’s all the way not just part of the way.It has to be Good. Michael has always and will always have the greatest voice across the planet…
God bless you Michael!!!!! We Love You..
I know in my heart, This is the Best GVB that’s ever hit the road.. They are the best of the best. Bill, Michael, Mark,David,Wes….Great Job Guy’s

Michael is able to do anything he is asked to do. He is the best at what he does. Michael is the happiest he has been in years and it shows in his voice, face and his performances. Never doubt that Michael cannot do the job. He has never let me down. Obviously, he has never let Bill Gaither down either…he got him back. Michael is a blessed and talented man. He has been through a lot and what he has been through, God lets us hear in his voice, testimony and songs.

Love him,

I just returned from Ft. Wort, Tx after seeing the new GVB for the third time. They are beyond wonderful. Michael English with his rich, soulful sound has added the prime ingredient to this awesome group. If you love harmony and appreciate great music you will know that this is a group destined for great things. They not only blend their voices but their hearts and minds as well. Good job Bill!

I love love love the new GVB!!! They’re fantastic. I think all 5 of them have amazing voices but in my opinion, nobody can sing quite like Michael English. What a powerful voice. I think they are all wonderful but Michael’s voice has always touched my soul like no other singer. He is amazing and has an amazing testimony. I love all you guys and can’t wait to see you all in concert. God Bless all of you!

Oh my word, tears were streaming down my face and the hair on the back of my neck was standing up as Michael was singing. I have been such a fan of his for many years and he has always had a phenominal voice, but now there is something so much better, I can’t explain it, it’s just a God thing. Two more weeks before I get to see them live and I can’t wait!!! Bill-when are we gonna get a CD from the new GVB???

I may be in the minority, but I would also like to see a live CD of some of their old stuff. I would think that could be done pretty quickly and then release the project of new material later. For one, I want to hear how things are arranged differently with the new group and also hear Michael and others sing songs that they didn’t originally do.

quartet-man,
On one level, I like your idea, but on another level, I feel there will be plenty Homecoming videos coming down the pike with live performances by the new GVB.

I would really like to see the new GVB record a CD with 12-14 brand new songs…something they haven’t done since 1993′s _Peace Of The Rock_. In fact, the GVB has never recorded a Southern Gospel CD that didn’t consist of at least 1/3rd remakes.

Of course, they redefined some of those remakes with fresh arrangements (“John, The Revelator,” “He Came Through,” etc.), but they’ve never focused on a full album’s worth of fresh material since converting to SG.

You’re right, though, in saying that would be a nice quick way to get a piece of product out for fans to buy.

Yeah David, I realize that they have redone songs on projects with slight changes (I’ll Tell It Wherever I Go) or a bit more (Alpha and Omega, Build An Ark, He Came Down To My Level etc.) to where I have gotten tired of it in some ways, but with such a dramatic change in members at one time, I think certain songs would be cool to hear English take Guy’s parts etc if they chose the right songs. I agree that Homecoming projects is one place they might do that although that is usually just one song per disc maybe.

I guess besides wanting to hear the new take offs on some of the songs, I also feel like if they pick new songs and all that that we will have to wait months and months to see the project. (Especially if they go the route you are talking and look for all new material.) I like the idea of all new songs (not just to the Vocal Band, but new songs period), but I imagine that might take a while. I guess with the Gaither’s connections and being top tier, they might be able to do it quickly. On the other hand, I haven’t minded them doing songs previously recorded but new to them (even the Gaither’s own songs like I Believe In A Hill Called Mount Calvary, The Old Rugged Cross Made The Difference, Let Freedom Ring, I’ll Worship Only At The Feet Of Jesus, I’m Free etc.) Some of those are among my favorites. However, I also like your idea and let them introduce new songs to people (in all fairness they have done some of that too.)
Maybe the best thing is for them to pick the best songs new or old that they haven’t cut and go with that.

Another thing though is that initially the GVB Reunion was slated for late this year, but either after some of us complained about having to wait so long, or other possible reasons, they did manage to get them out much sooner. So, maybe they can do the same if they put the same energy and priority onto a brand new project.

I agree 100%. I had my doubts on Michael’s ability to carry it. He nailed that verse. I would like to hear them do some new arrangements of some less familiar songs, not the standards like “Let Freedom Ring”, “Satisfied” and “Temporary Home”. How about “In That Great Gettin’ Up Morning” and “Lord Feed Your Children” and “Home”

And please, new tracks where you cant hear Guy blasting through!
