…or does anyone else think the term “blogosphere” should have run its course and been forgotten by now? Sorry, I don’t know why I despise that term so much. (I refuse to refer to it as a word.)

Initially, the phrase “web log” was contracted down to simply “blog,” which is handy to reference the sort of arena in which we write. Why, then, do the same people create and overuse such a long clunky mess as “blogosphere” to describe that mythical cyberplace where all things blog exist?

It reminds me of a Jerry Clower routine. (Everything reminds me of a Jerry Clower routine.) He said he was watching the news on a television station from a large market, and the anchor there stated that a man had died the previous evening from “complications brought on by hypothermia.” Clower said he then flipped the channel to a more rural based television station, and the news anchor there was saying, “A feller froze to death.”
