Mansion Entertainment – the next big label?
Bill Traylor is no stranger to gospel music, nor is he inexperienced at creating successful recording companies. Traylor started RiverSong Records in the early 80′s, which was home to such acts as the Cathedrals and Gold City, and in the 90′s, he helped found Homeland Records with an artist roster that included the Hoppers, the Speers, and N’Harmony. Now it seems, he is set to make another return with Mansion Entertainment.
Already working to build the label, Traylor signed the Hoppers this past fall after the fall of Canaan Records, not an entirely surprising move, considering their previous working relationship. Now, however, it seems that Traylor and Mansion Entertainment has pulled another top name (rather unexpectedly) with Triumphant, who recently signed with the new label.
Triumphant has been one of the most stable and consistent groups since its inception nearly a decade ago. They have also spent their major label career with Daywind Records, seeing quite a bit of success, which makes their transition to Mansion all the more surprising. It is possible that their contract may have been up with Daywind, and they were presented with a lucrative alternative with Traylor (at least, that would be my guess), but perhaps Traylor is offering them more freedom to expand.
I may be out of the loop here, but I have not heard whether or not Mansion has any mass-market distribution. Does anyone know if this is the case (and with who)?
