Song Of The Decade – 2000s – Round One

Let’s look back over the past ten years and see which songs you remember and which songs you’ve forgotten. More importantly, let’s determine the one song that impacted most of you more than any other.

I’ve created a survey so you can vote for your favorite song from each year (2000-2009). The list is compiled from from the Top Twenty songs for each year. You can write in a song title if you don’t see your favorite listed.

Please vote just once per household and include your contact email in case something goes wrong with your vote.

Round one ends on March 25 at midnight (Eastern Daylight Time).

There will be a second round  of voting after March 25 with 20 choices.

In the third and final round, you’ll choose from seven titles to determine the overall Song Of The Decade for 2000-2009.

If there are ties in the first or second rounds, the following round will have additional choices.

Finally, you may note that some songs are listed in more than one year. That’s because some songs appeared in the Top Twenty in more than one year. You are permitted to vote for the same song in different years.

Enough housekeeping…Click here to take the survey now!

The survey was created with eSurveysPro.com survey software.

(Yes, I learned my lesson after the last poll. I’m not going to tabulate this one by hand!)

If there’s enough interest in this poll, we’ll go ahead and tackle the 1990s. I have all the data I need to do that thanks to a couple of contributors who sent me magazine page scans.

If you’re still engaged in the process after two polls AND if I can get my hands on enough data (see previous request post), we can move on to the 1980s and the 1970s.

Here were my votes:
2000: “He Said”, Gold City
2001: “Are You Ready”, Gold City
2002: “I Believe”, Gold City
2003: “God Handled It All”, Gold City
2004: “I Wish I Could Have Been There”, Perrys
2005: “Forever Changed”, Kingdom Heirs
2006: “Paid in Full Through Jesus, Amen”, Greater Vision
2007: “I Have Not Forgotten”, Inspirations
2008: “What We Needed”, Kingdom Heirs
2009: “Loving the Lamb”, Mark Trammell Trio

The 1999-2003 era of Gold City is only rivaled by the 1986-1989 era of the Cathedrals in my book.

I’m not sure if they released that to radio as a single or not, Larry. Either way, the GVB version of “Mary Did You Know?” was released in 1998, so it wouldn’t fall under the scope of this poll.

Come back and vote for it when we do the 1990s poll in a few weeks.

the best part about the survey was looking over all the song names, as it made me recall some wonderful songs I have not heard in a while. there were some tough choices.

David,

Great idea for a poll. Just a hunch based on audience responses I’ve seen over the past few years…your big winners will be “He Saw It All” & “Four Days Late”.
