Which Carmike Cinemas Genius Set This Showtime Schedule?

I haven’t ranted about Carmike Cinemas lately. They’re due!

I drove by our local 4-room “plex”around 7:50 PM last night expecting that 10,000 BC would be screening at roughly 8:00 PM. Oh well! Here’s their complete list of showtimes for Monday, March 17:

HORTON HEARS A WHO, G; 6:00 PM, 8:10 PM

DOOMSDAY, R; 6:00 PM

10,000 B.C., PG-13; 6:00 PM

STEP UP 2 THE STREETS, PG-13; 6:00 PM, 8:10 PM, 10:15 PM

Carmike’s lack of logic doesn’t surprise me. They’ve never employed much logic in the past. It’s still pretty annoying, though. I could understand if it was a three hour film, but no, 10,000 BC is only 109 minutes. I could understand if one projector wasn’t working and they had to double up by showing two movies in the same room, but no, all four projectors were expected to run at 6:00 PM.

Their reasoning must go something like, “Yeah, we’re going for that preschool and middle/high school market on a school night, but there’s no point in showing these other two movies aimed at adults more than once…even though we could be here well past midnight if anyone shows up for the 10:15 PM screening of the bound-to-be-horrid-if-it’s-anything-like-the-first-one, Step Up 2…”

Weird…

End rant…
