Dottie Rambo has made an indelible mark in gospel music, having many songs recorded by both Inspirational and Southern Gospel artists. Crossroads Marketing and the labels they distribute (Horizon, Sonlite, and Parable) have created a fitting tribute album featuring their roster of artists. The relatively simple musical arrangements on this recording allow Rambo's poetry to be the object of primary focus for the listener. Vocal theatrics have been kept to a minimum. Even the songs with peppier tempos like "I've Never Been This Homesick Before" (The Kingdom Heirs), "I Go To The Rock" (Tim Surrett and Sonya Isaacs Surrett), and "When I Lift Up My Head" (Phil Cross and Poet Voices) seem to be a bit restrained from a vocal perspective. All tunes on the recording are also available individually as performance tracks, and are accessible for the average amatuer vocalist. Most of these arrangements would be great for Sunday morning soloists.
